A wonderfully conducted night at the Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA’s), sponsored by Gallagher, saw the emergence of the beautiful Biddenden Vineyards win the first ever Family Business of the year award. In an industry that can be susceptible to damaging and unpredictable weather, their success comes as a result of hard work and determination and is a true testament of their ability.
I enjoy nothing more than seeing good, honest family businesses receive the recognition that they deserve. To me, it is my life and my passion, and in having the opportunity to present this award to Biddenden – while making a special mention to the other incredible finalists – could not have made me prouder to be a part of a family business myself. With such a strong representation, it sends out a compelling message to the community and to other businesses that family businesses are a huge part of Kent and massively important to our diverse economy.
The entire aim of Family Business Place is to raise the profile of family businesses across the UK and Ireland. It is so close to my heart and seeing companies, like Biddenden, receiving this kind of gratification justifies why I started the company 10 years ago. It is incredibly rewarding to see parts of our greater business family community succeed as the culmination of their arduous work and perseverance.
