Odiham Cake Company has been delighting it’s clients with bespoke cakes since 2012 but a national television spot has seen this family business booming.
Odiham Cake Company, run by Gareth and his wife Emma, has seen enquiries and bookings for its bespoke cake business treble since business owner and cake designer, Gareth Jones, appeared on BBC2’s “The Millionaire’s Gift Guide” on Sunday 3rd January, with his £10,000 cake for an extravagant children’s party.
The colossal replica cake of private stately home, Aynhoe Park, in Oxfordshire, took 200 hours to make, and included 10 kilos sugar, 10 kilos flour, 10 kilos butter, 8 kilos of Belgium chocolate, 200 eggs and 40 kilos of fondant icing.
“The Millionaire’s Gift Guide” gave viewers a behind the scenes look at the lavish spending habits of the super rich, including an out-of-this-world children’s Christmas party organised by party planners Dazzle & Fizz.
Gareth says: “The response from the BBC2 documentary has been incredible. We were hopeful that the programme would have a positive effect on sales, but we weren’t expecting to close our books for January less than a week into the New Year, especially when after Christmas can be a quiet time.”
Since his TV debut, Gareth has been overwhelmed with the response. Enquiries for the bespoke cake business, along with visits to the website, have trebled in only a few days.
